RIDER’S FIELD GUIDE / 01
Choose for the ride.
Check the protection.
Our selection analysis interprets published jacket specifications. Original catalogue names and illustrations are paired with research references. This is not a road test or an independent safety rating.
01Heat needs perforation
Perforated leather lets air through while riding. Zephyr Leather and Flux Leather open up more of the shell than the solid heritage jackets. Removing an insulated vest helps in warmth, but leather can still feel hot in slow traffic.

02Rain needs a separate layer
None of these 15 leather jackets lists a waterproof shell or rain liner. Bring compatible over-jacket rainwear for wet rides. A waterproof inner pocket protects that compartment; it does not make the whole jacket waterproof.

03Check what’s included
All 15 selected jackets list shoulder and elbow protection. Their back protectors are optional. Budget for the compatible insert and check its size. An airbag-ready label means compatibility, not an included airbag system.

04Fit in your riding position
Reach for the handlebars with your usual layers on. Check sleeve reach, joint coverage and waist security. A thermal vest mainly warms your torso. Follow the exact model’s airbag clearance and sizing guidance when adding a system.
